Love and Respect of Animals
- I've been a vegetarian for 9 years and I have never felt better. Both physically and emotionally. I cannot and will not support the heinous treatment of animals by buying meat at the grocery store or restaurants. The cruelty and torture we inflict on animals is coming back to us through ill health and disease. We were not meant to consume the enormous amounts of meat we have decided we need. What we do need is exercise, plenty of fresh fruit and whole grains and no meat. Just compare our teeth and intestines to the teeth and intestines of true meat eaters. Ever wonder why Tigers and Lions don't get high blood pressure or high cholesterol? Wake up folks. Make the change - you'll be glad you did.

Why I became a vegetarian
- I became a vegetarian for ethical reason. I love animals and they were not put on this planet for us to eat them or use them. And for me to just thinking of killing a living creature for food that God put on this earth is disgusting. Vegetables and fruits and legumes and grains are more than enough to satisfy us. We don't need flesh.

I think Animals are Individuals
- I'm not an animal lover but I think if someone has emotions, personality or a will then they have soul, and with that comes rights. And I only have to observe a mosquito caring for her children or a pig squealing b4 slaughter to believe animals are individual too. So their death and their suffering(from practices such as castration and caging) is equally as tragic and unjust as that of one of my family members. Veganism and vegetarianism is a means to avoid participating in what I consider injustice and suffering.

Love of animals
- My original reason for becoming vegetarian was for weight loss and my health. The inhumane way animals are treated and abused was always in the back of my mind, even as I ate meat. So in the beginning it was for my weight and health, but now it's moral. Yeah, animals would eat us if they could, but we have brains to know better. I think (and hope) that in the future vegetarianism will become much more well known and popular.

Health and Compassion
- I've been healthy for six years, and am also compassionate about animal welfare. After getting piles, I went to the doctor who suggested prunes, flaxseeds, and 2L of water daily. I decided to combine my love of health with my love of animals: Become a lacto ovo vegetarian. I now make vegetables the main part of my meal, often with nuts, seeds, and a hard-boiled egg on the side. For breakfast I add prunes and flaxseeds to my usual unsweeted porridge (yes, I can eat it plain). Since Day One my bleeding cleared up completely, and I haven't seen a drop since. I've been very regular, feel very, very good, and can lose weight a lot easier than when I ate meat, as it contains more fat and cholestrol than we realise. When you buy meat, do you know how much fat it contains? No. Vegetarianism is the best thing I've ever done. I only wish I'd done it all my life.

I can't be part of all that cruelty
- I first became vegetarian because I watched on tv a program about slaughterhouses, how the animals are treated and killed, and I decided I cant keep being part of that. Later I read the book "To cherish all life" by Roshi Phillip Kapleau, and got many other reasons. Also, I love animals, they are sensitive beings, what hurts me hurts them. Besides, because I can!, it is possible, I been vegetarian 9 years of my life, and against all odds (according to my meat eaters friends) I am still alive!!!

Why I Became Vegan
- Chronic fatigue, swelling, inflammatory arthritis ... nothing was working. A wise chiropractor encouraged me to do a detox that was vegan. 6 weeks later I feel like I have a new lease on life. Have not felt this well in over 15 years. Pain is reduced and am losing weight. Mental clarity and energy is incredibly improved. I feel amazing.

Why not?
- Why should we kill animals just for our conveniences? We clearly do not need meat in modern times, at least in the United States. Many people say "If eating meat is wrong, then why don't you condemn wild animals for eating it?" This defense for the act of selfishly consuming flesh of other animals is wrong, because, first off, we aren't wild animals and don't need meat to survive, and second, because they'll die without it. We definitely won't. According to the American Dietetic Association, we can even go vegan without worrying about any defects if we DO IT RIGHT. I also refuse to even buy makeup that has been tested on animals, because I do not believe it to be right to give profits to companies that force animals, including rats, guinea pigs, cats, and dogs, into horrific tests just so I could look okay. Using animals for our benefits is wrong, because we obviously do not need to, even if someone’s god says that “animals were put on this planet for us to use them.” WE DON’T NEED

Goals for becoming vegetarian
- I'm trying to lower creatine levels in my blood, to have healthier kidneys, and stay away from hospitals and doctors.

Healthier, and I care about pigs
- My father, born in 1898 in South Dakota, told me pigs are smarter than horses, cats, and dogs. In my 58th year I became vegetarian and now vegan. I want to eliminate cholesterol, which only comes from animals, from my diet. But I also care about the animals and how they are raised. Now it is disgusting, and evil, to me to think of killing a living creature for food. Vegetables and fruits and legumes and grains are more than enough to satisfy us. We don't need flesh.

Vegetariansim
- I switched to vegetarianism in August because i was sick of being a hypocrite. For a long time (and i still do) I've wanted to live on a small hobby farm where i can raise my own food. I like knowing where my food is coming from and the thought that the steak I picked up in the supermarket is so distant from my personal life, makes it hard for me to be okay eating it. I've discovered a love of the way the vegetarian diet makes me feel emotionally and health-wise. Yeah, i just wanna know where my food is coming from.

On my way to become vegetarian
- I've been hearing alot of horror stories of how animals are kept and raised in these industrial farms and the diseases they carry. I find it to be quite disgusting and cruel.

Spiritual reasons
- One day I was surfing in the internet when I read a question about vegetarianism. After I carried out some research about it, I found that it was time for me to stop killing animal because my body wants for it. It is a kind of self discipline....

Veggie heads are the best
- After watching the movie Super-Size me and then researching how animals are treated and fed, I decided that eating meat was no longer an option for me. I've been now for 5 years and have never got even as much as a common cold since switching to this new healthy lifestyle.
