Supporting Vegetarian Youth

By Jolinda Hackett, About.com

It's no secret that more and more young people are going vegetarian. Here's two organizations that are doing their part to make sure this exciting trend continues.
  1. Peta2

Peta2 can be almost single-handedly credited with helping to make it "cool" to be a teenage vegetarian. Focusing solely on a youth market, this division of the more well-known organization PETA reaches teenagers and young adults by speaking to them through the voices of youth celebrities such as Good Charlotte (or whoever the trendy pop star of the moment is!). Peta2 is an incredibly effective and popular organization - just ask your vegetarian teenager! Click here to donate to Peta2

  2. Vegetarian Resource Group (VRG) Scholarship Fund

Every year, the VRG rewards U.S. high school students who have worked to promote vegetarianism in their schools and communities. Check out their website to read about some incredibly inspired and creative young people. Currently, the VRG awards two scholarships each year, but with increased donations, they would be able to reward more outstanding young scholars and activists with the recognition they deserve. Click here to donate to the VRG Scholarship Fund (Be sure to earmark your donation for the scholarship fund).
