The Vegetarian Hundred Foods to Try

By Jolinda Hackett, About.com

I’ve really enjoyed reading the Omnivore’s Hundred food list that’s been circulating the internet, so I just couldn’t resist putting together my own version – 100 Vegetarian Foods to try at some point in your life.

My thought process in creating this list was to select foods that have such a unique flavour that they really stand out. I included exotic fruits and regional dishes, some of which are incredibly rare outside of their homeland. I held an internal debate about whether or not to include alcohol on the list. In the end, I decided that I felt strongly enough about just a few alcoholic beverages that they had to be included. I’m not particularly a gourmand, so I’m sure I’ve selected some foods that would have true foodies snorting their noses in superiority. Nonetheless, if you have anything to add, let me know and I’ll add in your suggestions!
