Ingredients:
- 2 cups mashed turnips
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- pinch ground savory, to taste
- 3 tbsp butter or margarine
- 1 tbsp potato mix
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup chopped cheddar cheese
Preparation:
Mix mashed turnip, egg, 2 tablespoons of butter and the savory. Place this mixture in large baking dish.Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Make a white sauce with the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter, potato mix, lemon juice and milk. Do this by stirring these ingredients rapidly over medium-low heat until sauce thickens.
Pour sauce over turnip mixture and sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over top.
Bake for 25 minutes. Serve warm mixed with sour cream.
