This easy cranberry sauce recipe, made with apples, is easy, easy, easy. Seriously. Forget about canned cranberry sauces and try this easy recipe instead. All you have to do is boil fresh or frozen thawed cranberries (fresh is better, of course!) and simmer together with a few common ingredients. A homemade vegan cranberry sauce recipe. Oh, and did I mention how easy it is?
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 12 ounce package fresh whole cranberries (or frozen and thawed)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 medium apple, chopped
Preparation:
Bring water to a slow simmer and add sugar, stirring until dissolved, then add fresh cranberries and fresh cinnamon stick. Allow to cook until cranberries start "popping", about 6-8 minutes.
Add raisins and apple, and simmer for another minute or two. Remove from heat and chill until cranberry sauce has cooled and thickened.
Makes 10 1/4 cup servings.
