Recipe for a Raw Food Facial

Raw food isn't just nutritious for the inside of your body, it keeps the outside looking great too! Raw food skin care is easy, fun and affordable! It is amazing how little you need of each food. You can even just rub a papaya peel on your face after you've put the rest of the fruit in your smoothie! I frequently rub food on my skin as I go along in the kitchen. Such experiments have led to great results! If you use honey you can add a teaspoon or so to the mashed papaya or avocado in this facial for an even yummier, more moisturizing and toning effect.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Facial Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Yield: 1 facial

Ingredients:

  • Sliver of papaya flesh, seeds removed
  • Slice of pineapple or wedge of orange
  • Quarter of a ripe avocado

Preparation:

Mash the papaya flesh with a mortar and pestle, a fork or in a mini food processor. Apply to your dry or damp face with your fingers. Allow it to sit for at least a minute or up to 20 minutes depending on how much time you have. The papaya enzymes will eat away at your dead skin cells and cleanse the skin. Remove with a washcloth (this is best done over the kitchen sink). Pat dry with a towel.

Rub the pineapple or orange all over your face and leave it on until it starts to tingle. This is the feeling of your pores being cleansed with a powerful and pure anti-oxidant elixir. Rinse off with tepid water and pat dry with a towel.

Mash up the avocado with a mortar and pestle, a fork or in a mini food processor. Apply to your face with your fingers and allow it to sit for at least 5 or 10 minutes to soak up the moisturizing goodness. Rinse with a washcloth (also best done over the kitchen sink). Pat dry with a towel. Enjoy your fresh, soft, silky skin!!!
