Ingredients:
- 5 to 7 medium cooking apples
- 3/4 - 1 cup sugar
- 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice (optional)
- milk
- extra sugar for crust
- pre-made double pastry crust
Preparation:
Wash apples, then core and peel, and thinly slice.
In small bowl, combine sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon. Combine sugar mixture and apple slices, tossing lightly to combine and coat apples well.
Place apple and sugar mixture into a pastry-lined 9-inch deep dish pie plate, forming a mound of apples high in the center.
Dot with butter and drizzle with lemon juice (optional) if apples aren't tart enough.
Place pastry on top, making several cuts or a design in center, for steam vents. Adjust over filling and trim. Fold edge of top crust under bottom crust and gently press together using your fingers.
Crimp edge decoratively (optional). Lightly brush top crust with a bit of extra milk and sprinkle lightly with extra sugar.
Bake in a 450 degrees oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for about 40 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden-brown.
Enjoy your homemade oven-baked fresh apple pie!
