Egg-Free Devil's Food Cake Recipe, courtesy of Ener-G Foods.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
- 1 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 2 cups flour
- 3 tbsp Ener-G Egg Replacer
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease then line with waxed paper the bottoms of two 1-1/2 inch deep, 8-inch diameter cake pans.Mix the milk, shortening, sugar, salt and vanilla together. Pour melted chocolate in and mix until creamy. Sift baking soda, baking powder and flour together. Mix in chocolate mixture.
In separate bowl beat egg replacer and water together until foamy and then beat into flour mixture for 2 minutes (do not over beat). Immediately put into oven.
Bake for 35 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes before turning-out of pan. Let cool.
