Since I went vegetarian as a kid, I have to admit, I've never had "real" buffalo wings smothered in creamy melted margarine and hot sauce the way they're made in Buffalo, but no matter, I'm quite content to have the same thing, made from seitan. After all, as with so many meat dishes, when it comes to buffalo wings, it's not really about the meat anyways. It's all about that sauce! And the beer you wash it all down with, of course. After all, seitan doesn't come with wings any more than buffaloes do! Here's a few vegetarian wings and things that I absolutely love:

  • Seitan buffalo "wings" These spicy chunks of seitan buffalo "wings" are a vegetarian and vegan substitute for traditional pub buffalo wings.
  • Sesame and hoisin sauce "wings" Start with a store-bought vegetarian chicken substitute, brush them with a Chinese-inspired glaze of hoisin sauce and sesame oil, and cook them until sticky and perfect. Pictured
  • Quick and easy reduced-fat seitan hot wings Made with maple syrup instead of margarine and sauteed instead of fried seitan.
  • Barbecue vegetarian "chicken" wing pizza What else needs to be said about this? Pure heaven.
