Summer No-Cook Meals

Tuesday August 5, 2008
Need a filling meal but can't bare to turn on the stove or the oven? Try some of these no-cook vegetarian entrees. About.com's Guide for Busy Cooks has a great tip - pick up a side order of steamed rice from your local Chinese take-out restaurant and use it for the rice dishes, or you can use leftover rice for the rice dishes as well. Creating meals in your crockpot or rice steamer is another great way to keep your kitchen cool on hot days.

“but can’t bare to turn on the stove” - I must say, I prefer to cook with clothes on myself, as hot splashes can be painful. :)

Seriously, though - When cooking rice, make excess and then freeze portions in bags. A moment’s work to nuke the pre-cooked rice when in a hurry.
