In the News: The World's First All-Vegan Strip Club

Just what we've all been waiting for, right? A very entrepreneurial business owner in Portland, Oregan has decided to make his business an all-vegan one. It just so happens that his business is a strip club! All jokes and one-liners aside, I think this is great, and indicative of something we'll be seeing more and more of (businesses going veg, that is, not strip clubs!) as more individuals go vegetarian and bring their values to the business world. No word on whether or not the dancers themselves are also vegan, or if it's just the menu.

So, what do you think should be on the menu of a vegan strip club? I'm thinking seitan buffalo wings, some greasy chili cheese fries, and of course, lots and lots of vegan beer.

Hi—Jolinda:

I wonder how well it will do with vegans, the intended demographic. All the same, it is still novel.

There is a video from a local TV news station that is a must watch. I have the video up on my blog, it is quite funny. Check it out.

Hi Missy – I’m not sure that vegans are the target market necessarily – in the interview, Mr. Johnny seems keen on using his venue to introduce people to vegan food in an unusual way. But then again, before it was a strip club, Johnny apparently ran the venue as a pirate-themed vegan restaurant. :)

I think it’s a great idea, whoever it’s targeted for. More people need to be introduced to vegan fare; the folks I work with can’t believe that I eat as well as I do, they pictured my diet as being all salad and rice! They haven’t gone vegan, but 2 of them eat a lot more healthy than they used to, now that they know the choices they have.

Great idea maybe, but don’t like the way it was worded there.. “we put the meat on the pole and not on the plate” ice to see he’s trying to right some of the wrongs in the world, but he should be careful about the way he portrays his staff, its disrespectful to them and other women *shakes head in dispair*
