One more reason to go vegetarian....
Friday September 7, 2007
Not too long ago, I posted a link to 30 reasons to go vegetarian. Well, here's one more I never thought of: to save money on your life insurance! A UK-based insurance company is offering a discount to their vegetarian (and pescatarian!) clients. As the company notes, vegetarians have a lesser risk of a long list of ailments, from heart disease, to some cancers, and they wanted to take this into account. A company rep said, "The life insurance industry needs to acknowledge the fact that being a vegetarian can have a very positive impact on life expectancy and reduce premiums accordingly." Sounds good to me, but I do wonder how they determine that individuals are, in fact, vegetarian. I can only hope a US company will follow suit soon! What do you think?

I’ve never been a friend of insurance companies but… geez, good for them. I can’t wait for that in Spain.
It does seem to make some sense, doesn’t it? I’d like to see health insurance companies follow suit as well.
