Thank you I couldnt find the recipes either!
Yummy! I’ve been on a big veggie burger kick lately, and have been eating one almost everyday for lunch!
I need to try these recipes. Boca Burger is manufactured by an anti-vegan corporation and should not be promoted. If I ever want to set up a vegan grill next to the meat grill (just to challenge them!
), it would be better to not have to say, “These are from Boca Burger.”
Yup, homemade is always best. No cardboard packaging!
@Louche
Plus you have to be careful… some Morningstar farms veggie burgers, and Boca Burgers (Even the ones Boca claims are Vegan) contain disodium inosinate and / or disodium guanylate. Both of those ingredients are derived from animals. Maybe you already knew that, but as a new vegetarian, I’m glad someone pointed it out to me.
That’s good advice and I’m glad you mentioned something. I’m not sure about disodium inosinate (i’d think it to be the same), but for disodium guanylate, if a product is clearly marked, by a company, as vegetarian then the source of disodium guanylate is required to be non-animal.
has anyone had luck with freezing the burgers before or after cooking?
Melissa: Yes, freezing them partially or fully before cooking can help them stick together a bit more. Here’s some more veggie burger tips.
Dang, that’s a good tip above. I had a little trouble getting mine to stick together when I made them using this veggie burger recipe.
The sad thing is there are no vegan buns. It is hard to get bread to rise without all those yeasts having to make the ultimate sacrifice! Same goes for beer, wine and spirits…yeast urine!
Cajun,
“There are no vegan buns” is the most ignorant thing I heard in a while. Yeast is a fungus and therefore vegan-friendly. The problem with beer, wine, spirits etc. is not the yeast but how they are cleared, if at all.
haha…..this was clearly a joke… ! dohh! silly you, the reply made this even funnier! good one >,<
Cajun,
Have you tried putting the burger on a flat bread pita? –no yeast needed!
Flat bread pitas or flour torilla are great for sandwich buns for veggie burgers, I prefer them as I’m on WW diets.
All that bread is not good for you. Jean
More often than not disodium inosinate is derived from tapioca paste as that is the most cost effective manner of doing so, hence making it vegan as well. So, likely the claims of being vegan or vegetarian if that ingredient are listed are quite true.
