More unlikely veg celebrities: Ruben Studdard

Thursday October 19, 2006
Not long ago I posted that Paris Hilton had allegedly joined the ranks of other more noted vegetarian and vegan celebrities. Now it seems that the latest celeb to surprise us by going veg is American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, also known as the "Velvet Teddy Bear". In an interview, Ruben says he went veggie this past June as a way to manage his weight and hopefully avoid health problems later in life. Apparently, he's already lost 100 pounds, and, I might add, he's never looked better.

Unlike our girl Paris, Ruben has already proven to be one celebrity who will stick with his newfound healthier ways. He even says in the interview that he has given up his signature fried chicken wings. Of course, this recipe for Southern fried seitan is a pretty good substitute for the chicken.

Way to go Ruben! Here's to your health!
