Introducing V Pud, Vegetarian Black Pudding
It sounds like the name for a motor-scooter or the latest hip hop star, but its actually a new mock meat product – a vegetarian version of black pudding, which is a popular sausage-like dish often cooked up for breakfast in the UK. Apparently, the V Pud is quite authentic and tasty. In a Manchester Evening News article, chef Tom Bridge says "The taste is so close to the real thing it is unbelievable." Have you tried V Pud? What do you think?
If you're feeling adventurous, you can order V Pud online or, if you're looking for something a little less adventurous to cook up for dinner tonight, here's a few foods every new vegetarian should try (and non-vegetarians too!).

Just want to add that the VPud does have some milk products in it, so it’s not vegan.
I have a slight problem with buying veggie versions of meat products, especially from organisations who make most of their money from slaughterhouse products. You could see it as supporting that industry.
Good point. I go back and forth on this one, personally. Obviously, its GREAT to support small, vegan only businesses. But it can only serve to encourage other companies to offer a veggie product that will be available to people who wouldn’t otherwise consider it and offer the economic power to make it available.
For example, it wasn’t until Dean Foods bought Silk that it started appearing everywhere, partnered with Starbucks, bought national TV ads, etc. Same with the Burger King Veggie Burger.
You do raise a good point though!
Because of earlier heart condition I’m unable to enjoy as I did previously real Black Pudding – common and with some high quality stuff here in Ulster. Thoroughly recommend V Pud – it has the flavour ! I’m not a vegetarian – just enjoy it !
The only thing my daughter missed when going vegetarian 20 years ago was black pudding – great idea – but why is postage so high
I`d love to buy some but £7 for postage ??? forget it !!
V-puds are utterly delicious. I have offered them to meat eaters and they haven’t rumbled. Great with poached eggs or in stews. Yes, the postage can be steep, but they deliver chilled the next day- i normally buy ten or so to average the cost down. They have survived freezing. Very recommended.
