A Vegetarian Passover and Social Justice Seders
Expressing a concern for animal welfare, and environmental issues amongst other social equity issues, more and more university Hillel and other Jewish groups across the country are creating a new tradition by hosting a Social Justice Seder alongside or instead of a more traditional program. These Seders, usually vegetarian or even vegan, incorporate readings and discussions about one or more contemporary struggles such as global poverty and other social issues.
Hosting a vegetarian Social Justice Seder is a great way to spark a lively post-meal discussion with friends and family about the many reasons to adopt a vegetarian diet and to educate youth about current events.
