Milk Substitutes
Friday March 10, 2006
It seems like every day some new study comes out touting the benefits of some food or warning against the dangers of another. Of course, most of these studies are limited in scope, highly biased, and paid for by an interested company or lobby group, so their conclusions usually have to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. One recent study concluded that Americans drink too much soda -- who would have guessed? The study also concluded that we should all be drinking more water, and allowed for moderate consumption of soy milk and recommended avoiding full fat milk. Whether or not you agree with some of the controversial conclusions of this study, replacing dairy with soy on occasion is an easy and painless way to reduce your fat and cholesterol intake.
